Founded in Japan in 1906, Morita plays a pioneering role in the history of dentistry as the inventor of digital panoramic and volumetric tomography units. As the inventor of the apex locator and endodontic micromotor, the brand developed the first apex locator in 1992 and the endodontic motor with a built-in apex locator in 1996.

Having achieved many firsts in the sector by producing the air turbine handpiece in 1958, the first ergonomic dental unit in 1964, the panoramic X-ray in 1967, the digital panoramic X-ray in 1979, and volumetric tomography starting from 1996, Morita continues to shape the future of dental imaging technologies with its 8th generation volumetric tomography unit introduced in 2017.

With all devices being 100% Japanese-made, Morita manufactures every single part in-house in Japan. The brand is entirely owned by the Morita family, and the company's R&D department maintains its line of innovation by continuously investing in 2D and 3D dental imaging technologies.
